Retaining walls are meant to do just that... retain something at a higher elevation from falling to the lower. Retaining structures can range from a small 6" height up to 4'. Anything over 4' will require additional structural work. While a decorative visual to any landscape, these systems are also used to channel water runoff and mitigate the potential for flooding.
